2011 Competition Final Round Results

After an AMAZING Final Round at the Auckland Town Hall, the results were announced! The winners were:
In addition, Sergey also won the Julian Paul Anderson Chamber Music Prize and the Michael Hill Audience Prize - a hat-trick!

Fantastic News!

Sir Michael was appointed a Knight Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit (KNZM) in the 2011 New Year Honours list for services to business and the arts.

The Chairman of the Competition's trust, Sir James Wallace, joined Sir Michael as a Knight Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit (KNZM) for services to the arts in the 2011 Queen's Birthday Honours list for services to the arts.

Additionally, pianist Diedre Irons was also appointed an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit (ONZM) for services to music!

Also, three of our previous winners have recently received fantastic appointments:
  1. Joseph Lin (2001 Winner) appointed first violinist for the Juilliard String Quartet
  2. Natalia Lomeiko (2003 Winner) appointed professor of the Royal College of Music
  3. Josef Špaček (2009 Winner) appointed concertmaster of the Czech Philharmonic
