The Michael Hill International Violin Competition 2010 Winner's Tour

“This was definitely the longest tour I have ever done. I enjoyed every bit of it! A tour of this size really tests, (and in the case of younger performers like me develops) healthy nerves, stamina and the inspiration to play the same repertoire over and over again. This is something you can’t learn at school, and is the most valuable part of the Competition’s prize because I’m a stronger performer and more experienced artist as a result of my jam-packed and glorious month touring and concertizing around New Zealand."
"Touring with Michael Houstoun could not have been better. He is an incredible pianist and a great travel companion. Playing with him was both inspiring and educational as well. There was no need for long talks about the music we played, Michael speaks to you through his playing. Travelling with Michael and stopping for a good New Zealand coffee was always fun. Michael is an amazing driver and the New Zealand roads are the best kept roads I have seen!”
“Michael always emphasized the importance of visualizing your future. For me, the most difficult part is actually doing something about your dream. Michael is the master of this, and it is extremely inspiring to see that what he does is actually possible.”
