Bergonzi Violin
Contemporary Italian violin maker, Riccardo Bergonzi, has generously donated a specially-crafted violin to the Competition. Following the final round, it will be made available to deserving semi-finalists at the discretion of the Competition.
Riccardo Bergonzi graduated from the Cremona School of Violin making in 1979. He was awarded the Gold Medal upon graduation and has been recognized both nationally and internationally as a violin maker of distinction at prestigious competitions. His violin making is characterized by his attention to detail, exceptional finish and magnificent styling. He is undoubtedly one of the most important violin makers in the world today.
"Anybody who the violin will be awarded to, will certainly enjoy its beautiful and powerful sound. I think that especially 20th century music sounds really good on this instrument." - Kinga Augustyn
