For the Winner
The winner receives professional advice and skills that are assessed on a case-by-case basis during the 2012 Winners Tour. McCann Worldgroup, providing coaching to the winner to develop the marketing nous necessary when embarking on a professional career, will be joined by other associates of Michael Hill and the Competition with the objective of ensuring the winner has all the skills necessary to navigate the highly-competitive classical music industry. Example of such coaching can be found here: 2010 Winners Tour Professional Development.
For Semi-Finalists
Masterclasses, by members of the jury, are provided to all semi-finalists that are not competing in the final round. (Private lessons can be arranged separately.)
McCann Worldgroup will take all semi-finalists through a tailored program empowering them to negotiate within the corporate world for sponsorship and marketing support.
PriceWaterhouseCoopers will conduct a workshop for all semi-finalists on the complex international tax issues that face young touring musicians.
Semi-finalists not competing in the final round will also be encouraged to participate in the Classroom Conversations conducted in local secondary schools.
For Emerging Local Talent
New Zealand is fortunate to host this internationally renowned competition on its shores. To ensure Kiwis have the opportunity to learn directly from the masters and to engage with their international peers that are “on the circuit”, the Competition, with its partners, are proud to present a series of Masterclasses and Classroom Conversations as professional development opportunities.
Masterclasses
All masterclasses are open to the general public. In partnership with the NZ School of Music (Wellington), and University of Auckland’s School of Music (Auckland)
Classroom Conversations
Held in local colleges, these inspirational yet informal sessions with Competition violinists will discuss the pathways taken by international violinists to get where they have.
Student Open Rehearsal Attendance
Secondary students are invited to observe rehearsals upon arrangement.
