2012 Winner's Tour
Witness the world's most exciting talents on the launch pad.
The Michael Hill International Violin Competition aims to promote young violinists from all over the world who are launching their professional solo careers and are aspiring to establish themselves on the world stage; to recognise and encourage excellence and musical artistry, and to expand performance opportunities (including playing New Zealand repertoire).
Founded in 2000, the biennial "Michael Hill" is recognised as one of the world's most compelling violin competitions. The fusion of spine-tingling performances, warm and enthusiastic audiences, breathtaking scenery and Kiwi hospitality create an unparalleled platform for competitor and audience member alike. We take great pride in the knowledge that our laureates hold prestigious positions and carry on the glorious tradition of violin playing in its highest form.
Flexible attendance options cater to the classical music connoisseur as well as dabblers and folk just wanting to enjoy a great long weekend. Purchase one session (about two hours), or an all-session pass so you can come and go throughout the event. Get swept up, struck in, and attend the lot.
Bespoke destination packages
have been created in both Queenstown and Auckland for visitors to get the most out of the Competition experience.

MEET THE COMPETITORS
We wanted to get to know more about this year’s Michael Hill International Violin Competition semi-finalists and asked them a few questions and share a personal photo. This week, we hear from Stephen Tavani from USA and hope you also enjoy getting to know him!
